A thermal town since Roman times, Gréoux-les-Bains is in the midst of thyme, lavender and rosemary fields, in the heart of the Plateaux de Valensole (famed for its lavender). In the 19th century, it played host to numerous famous and rich people, such as Pauline de Bonaparte, who used to come and enjoy the benefits of its waters. Its main attractions are the thermae carved out of the rock, its squares, its narrow roads, its Templars' Castle, its 'House of Arts and Traditions' and its ancient fortress.
