Les Salles-sur-Verdon was a small and peaceful village which was sacrificed in the cause of electrical production when it was partially flooded when the dam of the Lake of Sainte-Croix was built. The village in its present guise was rebuilt (from 1972 to1975) on the banks of the lake. Its main attractions: its fountain, its washtubs and the church steeple (salvaged from the old village).
